Try Android Apps Without Installing Them | Play Store's new feature


Google has added a handful of Instant Apps to Google Play. This means you can now try Android apps without ever actually installing them on your device. And all you need to do is look for the new “Try It Now” button sitting alongside supported apps on Google Play.
At Google IO 2016, Google unveiled Instant Apps. These are native Android apps that can be used without the need to install anything. The idea being that you can try before you buy. Google has ramped up its Instant Apps efforts since then, and a handful have now made it onto Google Play.

Tap “Try It Now” to Try It Now

Until now, trying Instant Apps was a bit of a faff. You had to opt in, then search the web to find them. However, Google has now added a “Try It Now” button on the Google Play listings for supported apps. So you just need to tap the button to try an app without needing to install it.
The current list of Instant Apps includes Skyscanner, BuzzFeed, Red Bull, and The New York Times Crossword. Unfortunately, at the time of writing Instant Apps aren’t available in every country or on all devices. So if you don’t yet have access to them you’ll have to keep checking this page.
Right now you’re not missing much, unless you just can’t get enough BuzzFeed listicles and impossible-to-solve crosswords. However, with Google having now opened Instant Apps up to all developers, the number and variety landing in Google Play is sure to increase over time.

Hoping for Some Better Apps

Instant Apps are a great idea for anyone who has ever wanted to try an app without having to install it first. And adding a “Try It Now” button should clue regular Google Play users into the fact these are even a thing. Let’s just hope some decent apps are added sooner rather than later.

The first look at the reworked Sony Xperia phone design

We know that Sony is finally planning to change the design of its phones, and we might have just got our first look at what that change will involve. Georgian site  Vortex.ge  claims to have acquired design drafts for two upcoming Sony handsets and has created renders based on them, one of which is a very angular flagship which has a mirror-like back. There are curved sections of a different shade at the top and bottom, while the front has a seemingly large screen of apparently 4K resolution, and small bezels above and below. It’s a striking design, but most striking is the claim that the fingerprint scanner will be built into the screen.
